Based on Bryan Burrough’s book Public Enemies: America’s Greatest Crime Wave and the Birth of the FBI, 1933–34, Public Enemies is slated for a release in 2009. With the backdrop of the Great Depression of the 30s, Public Enemies is a story of an FBI agent who has opened battled against the Mafiosi. Although the plot has been used in several films, what makes the film a must see is Johny Depp who plays John Dillinger the criminal. Pitted against Depp in the movie Public Enemies is Christian Bale who enacts the role of Melvin Purvis. Michael Mann has directed Public Enemies.
